Route Notes From BC climbed a peak of Labchi Kang and returned to BC 2nd May. 11 May from C2 went to top; left 1:00 am NST: Chessell, Jackson, Jyamchang Bhote and all 3 top 2:30 pm with Jagged Globe members. Took time fixing rope. Found proper flags on top and despite not being able to see Everest through clouds, Chessell knew it was correct point since Chessell had been there before. Returned C2 6:30 pm and slept there. 2nd summit team on top (was Tshering's 2nd Cho Oyu ascent) at 8:30 am; climbed from C3 and slept in C2. Oxygen for summit parties used by members climbing from C2 to top, down to 8000m for Chessell and others to C2. Bhotes did not use at all; used by Weeks from C2 to BC with edema. Labchi Kang, 7367m, 20 km northwest of Cho Oyu in Tibet. All Australian members reached subsidiary peak in Labchi Kang group on 30 April. After Cho Oyu went to Xixabangma but too tired to go higher than C1 (6200m). (Janssen did not go to Cho Oyu because toes frostbitten on Labchi Kang). Nepalese summiters: Jyamchang Bhote, 20/2/78, Farang VDC, Sankhuwasabha, 1st 8000er Tshering Palden Bhote, 13/4/81, Hungung village, Cho Oyu 14/5/02
