| Route Notes | Snow face above yellow band. Sept 16: used slept in C1 by Kondo, Ota, K. Sato, Takahashi and Yanagida Sept 28: used slept in C2 by Kondo, Ota, K. Sato, Takahashi, Yanagida and three Sherpas. The expedition members were divided into two groups of five members and seven "O" group and "K" group. "Kondo" group: Led by Kondo started from C2 on 30th at 03:30 hours/NST, reached summit at about 11:30 hours, stayed about 30 minutes, returned to C2 at about 17:00 hours. Member Mrs Ota had dislocation of right shoulder joint above yellow band, which was fixed at C2 on return. It was the first ascent of the season. Weather was clear and the members had clear view of Everest and other mountains peak. About other 10 people had summited including Russell Brice's one member with Sherpa, after the Kondo team. Okura group: Oct 01 started at 02:00 hours. Members reached to summit between 06:00 to 08:00 hours. Miss Uchida (71) was last one to arrive to the top. Okura stayed about an hour on the summit. The day was clear, they had clear view of Everest and other mountain peaks. All members, except Uchida who stayed in C2, reached C1 at about 15:00 hours. Uchida (started 02:00, summit 08:00, 15:00 C2). Sherpas ascent was from C2. The expedition lost 3 tents at C1 as strong wind blew away the tents. Chinese/Japanese women joint expedition summited before the Okura team. Non-summiters: Hara went upto C1, had to go to Tingri for rest due to his blood sugar level (diabetic). Terata highest was C1, blood pressure level was low, exhausted. Both Hara and Terata went to Tingri on 27th. C. Sato: highest was C1, exhausted, remained at ABC. The expedition returned to KTM on 6th and leaving on 8th for Japan. Summiting Sherpas: 1. Tamtin Sherpa (1974/12/19), Beding, Dolakha. (Ngawang Tashi said that Tamtin had Everest summit with Indian Expedition celebrating 50th Anniversary of Everest summit). 2. Norbu Sherpa (1968/05/05), Beding, Dolakha. Cho Oyu 2001 - Mura expedition Japan of which a 70 years old top the summit. 3. Nawang Tashi (1966/01/10), Boudha, Tousal. Shishapagma summit three year before. 4. Pasang Kitar Sherpa (1979/02/25), Beding, Dolakha. Summit Cho Oyu 2002 Autumn with Ms Uchida. Everest - 1998, 1999, 2000 spring with Japanese, British & Japanese respectively. 5. Chuwang Nima Sherpa (1967/05/04), Thamo, Solukhumbu Everest: 1994 Spring/American, 1994 Aut Japanese, 1996 Spring Japanese. 1996 Summer International, 1998 Spring Japanese - possibly he might have Everest following years.
