Route Notes Gschwendtner, Schlattinger and Volken started from C2 at 0:30 hours. Reached summit at 14:00 hours and stayed half an hour. Returned to C2 at 17:30 hours NST. Hindel and Kuzbida tried on May 5. Started from C2 at 02:00 hours. Reached below yellow band. Weather became cold and storm started. Then both of them went down to C2. The expedition lost two tents which contained oxygen, equipment, etc. due to storm on April 23. The expedition returned to KTM on 9th and will leave on 12th. Email by Helmut Kuzbida: Kilian Volken reached the summit at 13:30. Peter Gschwendtner followed at 13:45. Both of them waited for Rainer Schlattinger who reached the top at 15:00. He suffered of HAPE and they took him down slowly. I met all of them at C3 at about 16:30-17:00. When they had reached the summit platform they walked about 1-1/5 hours further on till they came to the highest point, where they found some prayer flags! About 50 meters ahead they left on a small hill the flags from Switzerland and the Swiss Kanton "Wallis". The sight was not good. They could not see Everest because it was cloudy. They only had a view to northwest and northeast but not southeast.
Accidents Schlattinger altitude sickness in lung (HAPE)
