Route Notes May 14: Dougan and Murphy started from C2 at 03:00 hours Chinese time. They reached C3 at 05:00 hours. Cinnamond who slept at C3 on 13th joined the two members. They continued. After about 100m, Cinnamond could not walk due to exhaustion. All three returned to C3 and left Cinnamond to rest and have something warm to drink. Dougan and Murphy continued. Both of them reached summit at 14:00 hours (NST) together. They spent about 40 minutes on summit. The two members were the last ones to reach the summit on that day. Before them 2 Italians, 2 Germans and members from New Zealand had summit on same day. Dougan and Murphy reached to C2 at about 20:00 hours. They had one hour rest at C3. When Dougan and Murphy reached C3, Cinnamond already left C3. Upon reaching C2 Dougan contacted other expedition to know about Cinnamond, but nobody saw him there. On 15th both came down to C1 and also to search for Cinnamond. On 16th Dougan contacted ABC to see if Cinnamond is in CBC. Same time both members went up to first icefall and had to return due to bad weather. At about 13:00 hours Dougan assumed that Cinnamond was dead. Both members went down to ABC in the morning and arranged search team for missing Cinnamond on 17th. Tshering Sherpa of Himalayan Explorer (expedition leader Jamie McGuinness from New Zealand) found the body of Cinnamond in a crevasse [at 6800m] hanging 3 meters from the surface and his rope was still attached to main rope. Jamie informed Dougan that the body will be brought to Zangmu on 24th. Summit day weather: It was good, sunny, mild wind. Visibility was good but cold. Dougan saw the summit of the Everest briefly. Both members saw ski-pole stick on the summit. The two members arrive KTM on May 19 and to leave on 22nd. Garbage: Dougan said that it was disgusting to see lots of waste food, gas cylinders in C3 area and many oxygen bottles above C4. He said those were mainly left by Korean expedition. He is of the opinion that expeditions must use suitable containers for human waste and dispose them properly.
Accidents Cinnamond fell into crevasse; Kelly got severe diarrhea and toothache
Achievement Dougan said he is first to summit
