Route Notes ABC at all camps at same locations as other teams. 1st summit bid 26 April by Kang and Jung with 2 Sherpas, but winds too strong to go above C3 so down to C2, where also wind so strong could leave that camp and 27th down to ABC. 2nd May Chung with 2 Sherpas and go to top 3 May with 2 Austrians. Took 1-1/2 hours or more from arrival at summit plateau to summit. Could see no other mountains in complete cloud cover. Left C3 4:30 am and on top at 12:40 CST (10:25 NST) and down to C2 at 6:00 pm. Sherpas were Pem Tenji and Pasang. Baek and Tirtha Tamang (Cho Oyu X2, etc) on C3 3 May and to top 4 May leaving C3 7:00 am, saw Everest, etc. [reached top 2:16 CST, 12:01 NST]. Kang and Nima Dawa (Everest 2000) left C3 5:00 am 5 May, on top 11:20 am CST (9:05 NST) and returned to C3 4:00 pm and C2 6:00 pm. Kang down SE Face 100m to see down that face, where had not gotten to top in 2001, and back to top, where Nima Dawa arrived 40 mins after Kang first got there; saw Everest twice from summit in breaks in clouds.
