| Route Notes | Jamie and David left C3 for top at 5:30 am, summited noon and David slept in C3 with Tshering while Jamie down to C2. Saw Everest and Lhotse. Tshering had gone up from C2 in his own climb and on top in early afternoon. Nearly got blown off the mountain on way to C3 on 12 May, so down to C2 and up next day in no wind. Japanese 1st on top, McGuinness 2nd, German woman with Japanese and Sharp next. Bragg left expedition 4 May (very slow, very tired, no motivation). Sherpa summiter: Tshering Palden Bhote, 39, Thami, Ev 23/5/01 Canadians are independent team who arrived much later than the others and will return to KTM on 30 May (Baldo speaks excellent English). |
