| Route Notes | Bad weather after C2 established and not until 9 Oct C3 reached and occupied by Hunt, Jenssen and Krishna Bahadur Tamang. 3:30 am (NST) 3 men left C3 for top. Hunt turned back at 7600m because getting cold and headlamp not working; others go to top at 10:00 am where saw Everest, et al, in clear and slightly windy weather (but next day weather deteriorated again to snowfall and strong wind). Hunt slept in C2 and Tamang to ABC. Jenssen to C2 10th at 5:00 pm; Hunt at 11:00 am and waited for Jenssen. When Dowd decided to leave, Miss McGuirk went with him because they had agreed when one left, the other one would too; she was strongest member of the team. Hired: Krishna Bahadur Tamang, 25/9/68, Kanku village, Solu, Everest 13/5/98 |
| Accidents | Dowd altitude problems and left about 30 Sept; nothing else serious |
