| Route Notes | 10 Oct Groselj and Rozman left C2 at 2:30 (Chinese Time) for top and [Groselj] reached top 5:30 pm (saw Everest). Easy climb in ideal weather and no problem with snow conditions. Groselj made ski descent to C2 at 8:00 pm and slept in C2 while Rozman slept in C3. Rozman stopped ascent in C3 and 11 Oct went 100m above C3 only because strong wind and down to ABC, while Groselj did ski down to C1, where snow stopped; very sad unable to ski to ABC because "easy to ski than to walk." "This a nice farewell to 8000m peaks" which he will not return to because he is 49 and and son 6 years old needs his attention. On top of Cho Oyu on same date as his 1st 8000er, Makalu, in 1975. 15 Oct another attempt for top by Rozman and Miklavcic, but no higher than C2 because strong winds. An earlier summit push started 2 Oct, but no higher than C2 because snowfall and wind. All members reached C1 but only 6 to C2. Disappointing result since this a training effort for police. Karnicar left expedition on 7 Oct to return to other obligations. |
