Route Notes 29 March fixed C2 and down to ABC. 8 April up from ABC to C1. 9 April to C2 and slept there. 10 April to C4. 11 April on top. Summit party were: Haefliger, Kessler, Kobler, Morel, Mrs. Pasche, Olivier Pasche, Schlaeppi, Straub, Zwyssig, 3 Sherpas, 3 Tibetans. Haefliger, Kobler and Kessler down same day; others in C2 and C3. All in ABC by 13 April had to wait for loads to come down and yaks to arrive. Morel fell 5-6m, broke a rib and developed lung infection; left expedition 15 April with this problem and frostbitten fingers, top of one of which he will lose. Sherpas to top: Gyalu Lama, Lukla (Everest 5/2000) Nawang Thile (aka Pemba Dorje), Beding, Cho Oyu X7, Everest X3, K2 Ang Dawa (aka Dawa), Tapting, Solu, 18/5/73, 1st 8000er Tibetans were from Tibet Mountaineering Association's climbing school: Dorje Karsang (19-22) Tashi Nawang
