Route Notes O'Brien brothers went for summit on 7 Oct but on summit plateau turned left instead of right, came to realize they had made a mistake, retraced their steps to go around to the right but never reached highest point. Summiters on 3rd and 5th October reached highest point and saw Everest. On 12 Oct storm struck which in six hours destroyed tents at several camps including C3 where more members [Arnold, Hachett and Yang] were waiting to go to top, but had to abandon that plan and go down. Eight men left before climb ended: Larson and Khules on 13 Sept - for personal reasons, not above ABC. Keller on 24 Sept - expedition not operating to his satisfaction, went little above C1. Harlow on 24 Sept - he was not ready for such a climb, went little above ABC. Chen on 16 Sept - suffering from old neck injury, went to C2. Richardson on 3 Oct - sick (pulmonary edema), went to C2. Donovan on 4 Oct - no longer interested, went to C2 [dizzy at C2]. Boelter on 8 Oct - ready to go home.
Accidents Richardson bad pulmonary edema at C2; Durga Tamang slight frostbitten toes
