Route Notes BC at Chinese Base ABC at normal spot C1 at normal spot C3 below Yellow Bank. Jordi Monterde left early on 30th April; he realized the climb was too difficult for him and so he went home. Summiters: Sonam Tashi, Khumjung, Cho Oyu 1998 reached the summit Chhong Ringee, Beding 17 May all 3 climbers woke up at 1:00 am and began climbing at 2:00 am. They saw Everest from summit and they saw prayer flags also. It was a beautiful day. Jordi Tosas will not lose his toes, only much skin. He says his toes are purple and blistered. He came down to C2 to sleep after summit, he believes he frostbite his feet due to the bindings on his snowboard boots being too tight, so he lost circulation. He snowboarded all the snow, but would stop on the way down from the summit to wait for teammates. He went from C3 to C2 (17 May) in 10 minutes. He also snowboarded from the summit which he found very easy. He also snowboarded the couloir to the right of C1, which is to the left of the Messner route (on that same face) and said that was hard. Tosas used the Australian at ABC to help him wrap his feet and he rode a horse down from ABC to BC on 20 May. The doctor also gave him pain medication during this interview, his feet are all wrapped. Gabriel Balcells went above C3, but turned back due to cold feet Enric Casellas went to C1 only Ricard Mir went to C3 only
Accidents Tosas had frostbite on all ten toes.
