Route Notes 19 May made last ascent of Cho Oyu at 4:00 pm (NST) from C2; left C2 2:30 am and 4 on top 4:00 pm and slept C2 at different times at 6:30 pm to 11:30 pm. All down to ABC on 20th. Vinals and Khumshu Sherpa (Makalu area) turned back at 7800m, Vinals got diarrhea and returned to C2. Vinals spent 5 nights. Second summit push from C3 pitched about 12 May by Sherpas but climbed through by 19 May summit party. 22nd May Vinals and Herrera slept in C3 but on 23 May bad weather, lot of snow, avalanche danger and too dangerous to try to go higher with no Sherpas, so down to ABC in knee-deep snow and crevasses to watch out for same day.
