Route Notes ABC same as others C1 same as others C2 same as others C3 almost as others (50m higher than others). 10 May Ershova from C2 3:00 am and summit 3:00 pm with Iranian's Sherpa on top at same time. 2:00 pm had reached plateau but true summit at 3:00 pm (saw Everest); slept in C3 because very tired. 12th May summiters from C3 to top and saw Everest also; at top 1:30 pm, same time as 2 Japanese and 2 Sherpas. 4 May 2 members from C3, Noora at 6:00 am and Pavel at 8:00 am. From ABC saw one at 12:00 and other at 12:15 pm at summit plateau. 12:30 by walkie-talkie Noora's voice said she going to top and near it, doesn't mention Pavel. No more information regarding them. 9th May Koreans went to top but saw no trace of them and other summiters also saw no trace. Some members went 100-200m above C3 but also saw nothing. LO gave no death certificates but said should fax Tiya. The summit pair said would not go up to acclimatize and descend, but insisted they go all the way to top in one push. Died perhaps because not strong, not acclimatized and maybe confused about where to go. Belgian Cho Oyu's Georges, 21 May: he and others from his expedition from ABC saw two people from this expedition moving up toward summit but one cannot see top from ABC so don't know if they reached it. Leader worried by no final radio news on top or any time later. It looked like top area was covered in cloud - probably they got lost on the snow field of summit plateau. No one has seen them anywhere on mountain and no traces of their falling seen (Georges looked for traces when he went up) which is why he thinks they wandered astray on plateau. No search party sent because bad weather set in. Korean Cho Oyu (Bae leader) member Ha, 29 May: footprints of Russian and Finn showed they went toward a peak east (to left) of true summit, and suggested they fell down Nepalese side.
Accidents Alanen in C3 needed oxygen but none found; Rasanen not feeling well and left early
