| Route Notes | Kurt Kobler left 20 April from BC. Tried to go to ABC but could not make it as he had serious dysentery, serious stomach illness, vomiting always. Florian tried 3 times to go to C2, the first attempt made on 5 May; Studer tried once on 1 May. Kurt Kobler drank from river without treating the water so he has gone home to recover. Silvia and Wilfried Studer left for Everest from Tingri on 10th of May. The Iranian team slaughtered a yak at BC and all Sherpas on all teams are very upset and claim people will die. Many discussions among teams. Another yak died or was killed. The Sherpas said two people would die because 2 yaks died, thus the Russian and Finn. Florian firmly believes the lost Russian and Finn reached the summit on 5 May and died on way down. |
