Route Notes BC northeast shore of Tsho Rolpa Lake near "e" in Tsho on direct route towards summit. Snowed all night 14th Oct and all down to BC. 16th Oct on to rock band and fixed rope there (19,200-19,500 ft -> 19,000-19,200 ft snow field) which action knocked off rocks that went thru tent at C2. 17th Oct had biv at 19,500 ft at top of rock band. 19th Oct returned to 19,500 ft with gear to make push to top alpine style. Had no fixed rope left. "We left hardest 3000 ft to alpine-style climb above biv had to cross couloir fast because of rock, ice and snow coming down." On 19th climbed 2000 ft on ice and rock. 20th Oct climbed last 4-1/2 pitches to central SW Ridge (1st time gained ridge) which took 5-1/2 hours to 21,500 ft and then back down in ace of knife-edge ridge above and pinnacles to get around without fixed rope and food had run out. Were 7 climbing members. Myles left expedition 19 Oct because didn't want to go through rock face. Thomson climbed one of the early days and then remained at BC. McGladdery also left on 19th Oct, an inexperienced climber.
