Route Notes Approach: Simigaon, 3 days trek to Na. BC 05/10 4183m (at Na) C1 29/10 5090m HPt 30/10 6003m (on Chekigo’s E Ridge, after climbing a new route on the S Face) by Laia Duaigues, Nieves Gil and Marc Subirana. Climb abandoned on 30/10 due to high and strong wind up to 90km/h in Chekigo’s East Summit Ridge. 1. Acclimatization on Yalung Ri (5650m) in 3 days, then Pachermo (6275m) in 4 days up to 6100m. Then followed a period of bad weather, covering the valley's walls with almost 1 meter of fresh snow. The team waited in base camp. 2. Various attempts and ascent on Chekigo: First the team established an advanced base camp (4950m) down the South Face, necessitating 2 days (Oct 21-22) for carrying material. A team (Laia Duaigues, Lucía Guichot and Pablo Herraez) attempted to repeat "Sopeti" (1100m, MD +) opened by Oriol Baro and Paula Alegre in 2014 and also B team (Nieves Gil, Amaia Agirre and Marc Subirana) a direct entrance to the road «Mito Cha" (1000m, MD) that ascends to the West Chekigo (6190m). But teams couldn't make it to the top in both cases, due to the new snow conditions which slowed progression. Whole crew recovered in BC for a few days, then were keen again for action. First it aimed for the West Face from Beding village, but strong winds noticed up the mountain discouraged their attempt. Instead, the team switched for a spur on the South Face, which Mikel Zabalza had advised them. Laia Duaigues, Nieves Gil and Marc Subirana, after 22 hours of activity, opened a new itinerary (1000m, MD) to the top ridge, where they were rejected by the strong wind and could not reach the summit. The lower half of it is rocky, the upper half in snow and ice with some seracs at its top. The other members Lucía Guichot, Amaia Agirre and Pablo Herraez made a simpler exploration route on a hill between Nepal and Tibet, in the Langdung area, photographing possible lines for an upcoming trip.
