| Route Notes | BC west of West Col near lake. Approach route was via Hinku Valley and Mera La: was not possible because Hinku Valley's lake overflowed 100m high natural dam and avalanche of water and big stones took away houses and lodges and bridges and trail. So had to go by new route over ridges and their steep slopes to Jangnak (yak herders area with 2-3 tea shops) taking half-day extra time. Tried to put camp on West Col but as approached Col, decided mountain too difficult for just two remaining members and turned around at 5900m on 9th. Had made earlier approach to Col to 5700m on 7th but not well acclimatized and exhausted. No other teams on mountain at this time. |
| Accidents | Osterbauer and Libicky never reached BC because of illness |
