Route Notes BC near lake southwest of West Col C1 at West Col C2 on South Ridge. 1st summit attempt by 4 members from W Col on 21 Oct & reached 6900m & here had no ice axe and rope but technical problem: ice tower which required ropes & ice axe so turned back at 10:00 am. 2nd attempt on 24th when 2 members turned back at 6600m with medical problems while different people made C2 after realizing a second high camp was necessary. These two who made C2 rested on 25th & set out for summit on 26th: Loipfinger turned back at 6650m no longer interested in such hard work to get to top while Markert continued on up; had left C2 at 6:30 am & Markert summited at 12:00 noon & down to BC same day. Now no more time to climb.
