Route Notes BC at northwest corner of lake 5448m on National Geographic map C1 at West Col. From C1 went to see what fixed rope needed and continued on to summit. Found Swiss Expedition's steps just below last difficult section. Had lot of sickness amongst Nepalese staff with 1 Sherpa and cook and porters sick; porter (Aurobinda Kubir Rai) died near Amphu Laptsa and sirdar had to go down to him (death from illness not exactly known perhaps altitude). 3 members also on medications for 5 days and never above BC. 2 Swiss members were sirdar's friends who spoke with Aubert by phone in Europe but whom French had never met until just before Mera La on approach march. Porter who died was named Aurobinda Kubir Rai.
Accidents None at mountain; 1 porter died of illness (AMS?) on approach
