Route Notes BC at Hillary BC above Barun Pokhari (same as Batard's West pillar BC this spring) C1 just below Makalu BC's on glaciers juncture C2 east of point 6220m at glacier C3 below some icefalls (south of ridge running east of point 6667m) C4 just below col High point on ridge above Col. Had problems getting loads up rock glacier and had several intermediate camps in this process. On 7th May got at 80-degree ice above C4, then mostly ice with snow over loose rocks where found thick blue fixed rope (mostly buried) from earlier expedition. Again difficult steep ice and now saw were well below where steepness eased off and gave up. Had fixed then only available ropes and not enough rope now to fix route above or enough time to climb without it.
