| Route Notes | Approach: Videla and Hofmann: trekking from Lukla via Surje, Khare and Mera Peak Podocea: from Lukla to Kahre by helicopter, from Khare via Mera Peak BC 29/04 5450m C1 06/05 6135m C2 07/05 6400m HPt 08/05 6650m by Videla Climb abandoned on 08/05 due to lack of manpower (Sherpas exhausted and unwilling to fix rope). Large crevasse at 6600m, 5m wide, larger than in previous seasons. Initially they couldn’t find a snow bridge to cross it, eventually Videla found a way around it. From BC to C2 old ropes from previous seasons were used, Sherpas were dishonest to clients, saying snow conditions were too dangerous and reluctant to fix ropes from 6650m onward. Videla reached highpoint at 6650m at the end of fixed ropes. Hintsa abandoned expedition in Khare due to personal reasons before reaching BC. Videla moved to Ama Dablam after Baruntse and summited on 20/05. Team left BC on 09/05 heading for Amphu Laptsa and Chhukung. Members: Cristina Podocea (HP: 6400m) Maria Aldana Videla (HP: 6650m) Gudrun Hofmann (HP: 6400m) Dominik Kelschebach (HP: 6400m) Peter Denninger (HP: 6400m) Lotta Hintsa (abandoned before BC) Team members were Life Himalaya Trekking clients on an SST permit. |
