Route Notes Approach: Lukla, Zatral La, Khare BC 19/04 5400m C1 28/04 6100m C2 03/05 6400m HPt 03/05 6400m by Hassmann, Rinji Sherpa, Lakpa Tamang, Ashok Lama, Chen Shaked, Joachim Kohn. Between 19/04 and 28/04 team deposited gear at crampon point. The Sherpas fixed the rope to C1 during that time when the snow was pretty deep. When Hassmann and the rest of the team ascended to C1 the conditions were better and on 29/04 they ascended to C2, to leave some of their gear, which was mainly technical gear to fix the mountain. On the same day, they descended to BC. On 02/05, Ashok Lama who was on the mountain with 8K Expeditions said the expedition was over due to bad weather. However, the rest of the team wanted to give it another go, and on 03/05 they left BC and ascended directly to C2. It took them about nine hours. They had to dismantle C1 as they needed the tents at C2. They pitched their tents and stayed the night. However, on 04/05, the weather was still bad, and as it had dumped about 40cm of snow they decided to abandon the expedition. On 04/05 everyone back at BC. Climb abandoned on 03/05 due to bad weather. Left BC on 06/05. The Nepali army was also there to do a clean-up expedition at BC. They did not climb on the mountain (due to bad weather) but collected around 5 tonnes of rubbish from BC and the area around it. Oxygen: Not taken, not used Fixed rope: around 250m Sherpas: Rinji Sherpa, 39 years, from Lukla William Crouse and Tania Kober were Himalayan Guides clients on the SST permit.
