Route Notes Team made up of several groups that climbed separately. Eric Hinderer Facebook: The time to come back has come! 4th visit to Nepal and once again its bundle of joys, surprises in spite of many coincidences. I consider myself lucky finally that the first 15 days of the trip were marked by rainy and then snowy conditions. (Thinking of the victims of Manaslu and the many trekkers stuck in the Dolpo among others). Thus we were able to benefit from a micro shooting window to reach the summit of Mera Peak (6461m). Then I leave my friends for the Baruntse base camp at about 5400m, all under the snow. 12/10 then we are. Long wait followed by 6 days to give time to the sherpas to secure the early parts of the ascent. October 18th, beautiful day to leave for camp 1! Long, trying but what a joy to arrive at the pass and see the Makalu facing us. 10/19 staying at camp 1 finally to let the Sherpas continue attaching ropes. Then, another very beautiful day on 20/10 which allows us to reach camp 2 (about 6450m) and approach with shape and optimism, the summit (of course still 7/9 hours of walking) is ahead of us. Everything is ready to try. Expected departure around 1 am on October 21st. And then, phew! Wind, gusts with spikes of 80 mph. We decide to postpone until 22nd and 23rd. I just don't. This is how it is! It will be for another time!
