Route Notes The Thamserku Baruntse expedition was comprised of several small independent teams that climbed on different dates. Impassable crevasses were found at 6900m (by Sherpas?) that would have prevented summiting. Climbers reached only C2 (6480m), C1 (6100m) on the West Col, or went only to base camp. Report from Juergen Greher: BC 30/10 5400m C1 02/11 6100m (West Col) C2 03/11 6480m HPt 03/11 6480m by Soell, Greher, Mingma Sherpa It was simply too windy to climb. The night at C1 was already very windy, however, the weather forecast predicted good weather for 04/11. So the team continued to C2, but the night was too windy, about 110 km/h. On 04/11 they descended to BC and left BC on 05/11. On 06/11 they crossed the Amphu Laptsa into the Khumbu.
