Route Notes Team was on summit bid on 12 Oct and while at C1 that evening, high cirrus clouds were seen and they got news that a storm was coming in. On 13 Oct clouds covered 7500m to 8500m and the team had discussion about the coming storm. Zaharias could smell the moisture in the air and they decided it was better to go back down. On 13 Oct, they descended to BC and it began to snow. The team had planned to set out for summit bid again after returning to BC, but as they were waiting in BC during the evening of 13 Oct, they got a big dump of snow. Next morning, they assessed that it would take over a week for the snow to consolidate after the storm and they abandoned the climb as they didn't have enough time (they needed to return back to Australia on schedule) Team left non-essential gear at BC and it took 3 days to get over the pass due to deep snow. Before the storm, there were beautiful conditions and no snow at BC.
