Route Notes Team (A) West Face of SE Ridge (Machold and Vanek) BC 7 October at 5450m C1 7 October at 5800m C2 11 October at 6200m C3 12 October at 6600m Team (B) SE ridge BC 9 October at 5450m C1 12 October at 6150m Climb abandoned on 12 October Death 2 members of Team (A); no contact since 12 October. From 13 October there was heavy snowfall for three days. There was more than 2 meters of snow at BC. Team (B) tried to reach C1 on 17, 18 and 19 but could not get there due to chest-deep snow. Their tent was there at C1. On 12 October Team (B) tried to contact team (A) on West Face, but there weas no response. Tent of Team (A) seen on 16 October at the same place of 12 October. On 17 October Team (B) asked for helicopter search. The search was done on 18 October by Simrik Helicopter, but except spotting the tent from far it could not do something more because of air pressure. The helicopter again went on search on 19 October, but due to wind conditions it had to abort the search work. Remaining two members returned to Kathmandu on same helicopter.
