Route Notes BC near lake C1 near top of West Col C2 near bottom of SE Ridge. To acclimatize, the team went to Mera Peak on their way to Baruntse BC and 20 members reached the summit. The first people from this expedition to summit were three of their Sherpas while fixing rope to the top. On 29 October, Jangbu (from Patle), Lhakpa Tendu and Palden Nima worked their way to the summit. Between 2:00 and 2:30 am on 3 November, the following members and Sherpas left C2 and reached the summit: Berg, Hoefer, Konkonen, Krauss, Lotjonen, Ronnevig, Wegge and Wilson with eight Sherpas: Dorje, Jangbu (from Patle from C1), Jangbu (from Kharikhola), Nawang Nuri, Pasang and another Pasang (both from Patle), Sange and Thile Nurbu. They were on the top between 10:00 am and 12:00 noon. Three members, Berg, Lotjonen and Scott, who summited at 10:00 am, were very fast and descended all the way to BC the same day. All the other members stopped in C2 and joined them in BC on the following day. There was a "huge" storm on 31 October and 1 November: getting wind was blowing, it was very cold, and a half-meter of snow fell. It caused a number of members to decide that they had enough and were no longer into climbing the mountain. Non-summiting members: Browder reached 7000m on summit day, but a very bad cough that sent him down. Cocorinis, an elderly man by mountaineering standards, did not go above BC and left in a helicopter on 3 November. Ericson, Ferro, Kunz, Levo and Snell reached C1 on 30 October (Levo on the 29th) and did not want to continue. Karu reached C1's site, but retreated to BC with a tooth infection and a bad headache and did not resume climbing. Mazur went to C1 on 28 October, but no higher; he felt he had to to stay with the members who didn't want to resume climbing. Rabbels reached C1 on the 30th, was tired and coughing badly, had had enough. Schuck got to C1 on the 30th, but was too tired to continue. Truesdale did not get above BC because of a continuous bad cough. Whitehorn had bad stomach pains and left by helicopter on 3 November. George Chandrahusadha reached C1, then turned around as he said he was tired of the blowing storm and did not feel well.
