Route Notes BC by lake C1 20 minutes above West Col. The team summited on two different days. The first party went for the top from C1 at 3:00 am on 22 October. They were Gregory Costa, Gerard Costa, Remy Lecluse and Pasang Tenzing. At 6200m, Gerard Costa developed altitude sickness so turned back, and Lecluse went down with him; they descended all the way to BC that day. Gerard's son Gregory continued with Pasang Tenzing to the summit, where they arrived at 11:30 am. They went down to C1, rested for an hour, and then joined Lecluse and Gerard Costa in BC at 4:30 pm. On the 25th, Lecluse and Gregory Costa went for the summit. They left C1 at 1:30 am and got to the top at 9:00 am as a slightly strong wind blew up. They went to BC at 3:45 pm after the others had come up and joined them in packing up C1. The large crevasse at 6900m presented no problem to them, despite the fact that steps dug by Lhakpa Rita on an expedition up before them had make steps on its upper side for his team to surmount it. This team saw no steps, but they were not needed. Lecluse got frostnip on his nose and four frostbitten toes, which will heal. Non-summiting members: Oncins went to C1 only. Vial went as far as the West Col with the 25 October party, but then abandoned the climb. He was not fit and was uncomfortable throughout the climbing period; furthermore he had pulled the tendon of one finger on his left hand on the first day of the approach march out of Lukla. Sherpa: Pasang Tenzing, 1/10/84, Beding, Everest X5, Cho Oyu X2
