| Route Notes | BC at 5400m at lake west of West Col C1 at 6100m, 10m from West Col High point at C2 site. Late in getting to BC because of Lukla flights irregular due to bad weather (cloud, rain) and snow in pass enroute to BC. Pitched C2 on 7th and 8th Oct but did not sleep there, as weather started changing and retreated, slept in C1 during heavy snowfall period. Back to BC 9 Oct and 10 Oct 2 Sherpas and De Houwer went up to bring down C2 and C1 gear: climb finished because would take at least a weak for snow to settle and team did not have enough tme to wait. Also 1 Sherpa with a Latvian independent climber had been on Baruntse and spoke of crevasses high on ridge which could not now be seen, so dangerous to go there [refers to Prem Lhakpa with Serbian climber in spring 2003?]. |
