Route Notes On 11 May, the team flew from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then to Jomsom, from where they trekked north parallel to the Kali Gandaki River through Ghami village to the village of Lo Manthang. They stayed in Lo Manthang from the 16th to 19th to witness a special festival. There they were required to pay Rs 1200 for the services of a local escort who made sure that they did not cross a ridge of hills called Kekyap Danda during the growing season (April-May now, later August-September) because to do so would bring a natural disaster. (The people of Ghami also hold this belief, and probably the villagers living between these two places think so too.) Therefore, to reach their BC site, the team had to retrace their steps southward halfway back to Ghami before moving west along the Ghyung Khola and from the rivulet to BC east-southeast of their mountain. They got to BC on 24 May. On the 26th the whole team of eight members and three Sherpas moved to the summit of Arniko Chuli via its SE Ridge. They left BC at 4:45 am and actually simply trekked to the mountain's high point, which they reached at 9:00 am. They were back in BC at 12:30, just after noon. The group returned to Lo Manthang on 30 May and to Jomsom on 8 June. From Jomsom they flew to Pokhara on the 9th and to Kathmandu on the 11th. Sherpas: Dawa Ongchhu Sherpa, 52/2/86, Lukla (brother of Lhakpa Tshering) Mingmar Sherpa, 10/8/70, Taksindu Lhakpa Tshering Sherpa, 7/10/80, Lukla (brother of Dawa Ongchhu)
