| Route Notes | BC south-southeast of mountain C1 at side of couloir C2 at col at top of colouir C3 at top of west facing hanging glacier middle of south C4 at central spur. Turned out to be more difficult and dangerous than anticipated. To get from BC into cirque took 2 weeks to find way. Went up to 15,000 ft on one ridge and hauled loads there in meantime. Had to traverse cliff with 200 ft of fixed rope to ABC in the cirque on ridge of land just above a glacier. Above ABC route up snow couloir to C2. Above C4, steep bad rock or steep bad ice with avalanche face or steep blue ice traverse with many gendarmes. Now little food left and deteriorating weather. |
| Accidents | Andrasko carried 500m down by avalanche on 27 April at 4200m, but only bruised and scratched |
