Route Notes BC near icefall (the west of 2 icefalls) the south of peak ABC on SW Ridge at top of icefall C2 on SW Ridge High point on SW Ridge. ABC hit by 2 big avalanches which destroyed camp at night both times. No one hurt but very frightening. Changed route to C1 as a result and thus C1 took time to establish. Sherpas did not want to go to ABC for days. 9 Nov Berger sick and down to BC so only 3 members now on ridge and winds fierce above 6000m (100 km/hr) and very cold. Ridge is now knife-edged and dangerous from falling rock. 13 Nov summit bid but again only to 6300m and climb finished because food in C2 finished. Had avalanching off South Face daily, usually at about 8:00 pm. 6 members to BC only (trekkers?).
Accidents Fauret stomach trouble; Berger also sick; no accidents or frostbite
