| Route Notes | Planned summit bid from C3 at 3 am 4th Oct, but too much wind and snow. Stayed in C3 but 6th Oct still wind too strong and 1 tent at C3 broken by wind so Japanese down to C2 where Sherpas should have stayed in support. But all Sherpas, afraid of wind breaking tent, had gone to BC, so Japanese now also went to BC. No 2nd summit because snowfall so heavy would be snow slides and couldn't trust Sherpas anymore. Korean team (not Rim) had already fixed 3000m all way up route. Japanese gave beer to Korean team. C3 made by Dawa Tshering on 2 Oct, but not slept there; on 3rd Oct Kondo, Ikenuma and Morimoto occupied; on 4th Oct wind so strong that men in C3 could not stand up; 5th Oct with bad weather including much snowfall decided to stop climb. |
