Route Notes Expedition reached 6400m (Dan Gee, Graham Muggleton, Susan Parker and all climbing Sherpas reached this point). Too much snow, terrible weather! On summit rotation we couldn't even get back up to C3 due to thigh deep snow. Snow accumulations too great. Easiest mountaineering decision I have ever made. We only had one 'good' weather day whilst at base camp and above. We waited (5 days) as long as possible in base camp for a possible weather window, but it just never arrived. Unpleasant conditions moving from base camp unwards. Gilbert reports that 4 Sherpas may have summited while fixing ropes to the summit: Phurba Sherpa (Makalu) Norbu Sherpa Lobsang Sherpa (Darjeeling) Dorchee Sherpa (Darjeeling) Gilbert: "I can't really verify this, but apparently 4 of the climbing Sherpas reached the summit approx a week before we arrived in country (Phurba posted on Facebook saying the 5th April. They were fixing the route. I don't know what time they reached the summit. However, Dorchee told me that they submitted on the 21st March, so I'm not sure."
