Route Notes BC at Sabje Khola High point at C1 site. Ron's American Annapurna IV Expedition - 19 November 2007 Sanga went first to climb Chulu East. Went by bus to Besishar and trekked in the Manang valley to Hongde, where they met some Sherpas coming from Chulu East. These Sherpas said there was too much snow on Chulu East, so Sanga climbed Chulu Far East instead and summited on 23 October via its South Ridge. Snow conditions on Chulu Far East were excellent, so he and his two Sherpas hurried to Annapurna IV in the hope that snow conditions there also would be good. They made BC on the same day, 23rd, at 4875m on the Sabje Khola north of the mountain. But "seracs and avalanches and everything were just falling.... We climbed a little bit, but when everything is falling, it's not so good." Sanga and Ang Gyalzen went up to the site for C1 at 5790m and immediately down to BC because of the avalanching, and they left the mountain the same day. They had not been hit by avalanching and were "healthy, strong, feeling fine, but mountain didn't want us to be there," Sanga said. Sherpa: Ang Gyalzen Sherpa, aka Rinji, 24/6/73, Kharikhola, no 8000ers
