Route Notes C1 at northern slope C2 at northern slope C3 at NW Ridge. All members went to C3 on 28 Oct but weather very cold on 29th morning; -25 degrees, so Streit and Wirth stayed in camp when all others set out for top. Only Gisler and 2 Sherpas reached top; others turned back because of the cold: Till at 6900m; Locher, Tanner and Winistoerfer at 7000m and Bischof at 7250m. Locher's toes got frostbitten and this resulted in arteries in his leg closing, requiring hospitalization in KTM (Gisler and Locher were brought to Kathmandu by army helicopter on 1st Nov while rest of team came on 2 Nov by chartered commercial helicopter). Summit party left C3 at 4:00 am, summiters on top at 12:00 and all team down to C2 between 1:00 and 3:00 pm, Sherpas on down to BC.
