Route Notes Schiempfoessl and Oblak stayed at C4. Schiempfoessl felt [headache] on the first half of the night. But got worse and at about 2 am he started hearing the water in his lungs. They left C4 at 6 am 11 Oct (roped together) and at about 1 pm he collapsed and died immediately (just above C3 at 6500m). Oblak and Dorje Sherpa carried him to C3 and wrapped him up. They left him there as the conditions were too bad (too much snow) to carry him down. Oblak and Sherpas descended to C1, where they arrived at dusk. Ulrich Walser, Peter Farmer and Ulrike Farmer got to C3 on 11 Oct but descended to C1 due to high altitude sickness of Schiempfoessl. The whole team was back at C1 on 11 Oct. They descended to BC on 12 Oct. They walked to Besisahar where they arrived on 17 Oct. Oblak flew back to KTM on 18 Oct and will leave for Austria on 20 Oct. Schiempfoessl's body is still at C3 but will be transported down in the next few days.
