Route Notes BC at 4000m East Annapurna Glacier's mouth C1 at 4800m just below major rocks between 2 Glacier C2 at 5500m at top of rock at start of snow ridge C3 at 6100m on small shoulder, on snow, at first part of S face proper. Very difficult mountain because it doesn't gain altitude till about 6000m and very long winding route to get there. Did not climb above a higher camp. Planned to climb a couloir just above C2 to get onto West Ridge. In summit push started from BC on 25th and slept in C2 26th, made C3 on 27th. During night of 27th started snowing so 28th decided to go down to BC and reached there through fog at first part of descent. After 2 days decided too much snow in couloir and avalanche danger so climb finished. 30th up to C3 to bring it and lower camps down. Maoists collected Rs 1000 per Italian and none for Nepalese.
