| Route Notes | BC near glacier south of mountain. 5 Oct route making and returned to C4; then from 6 Oct one week bad weather (snow constantly and high wind). 6 Oct down to C2 and no one back up. Fujii and Todaka to BC 8th Oct and 11 Oct all other members to BC. C3 hit by avalanche 25 Sept when 2 members inside and 2 Oct 3 members 6700m another avalanche but no one injured; no other accidents. Most difficult part is rock above C4 where one Japanese died at 7400m in autumn 1981. Team will follow same route as 1983 autumn Australians. |
