Route Notes C1 at beyond the ridge C2 on the ridge after the tower. Ropes used being fixed by own group and by other groups too. Reached C1 for the first time on 19 Oct and came down to BC the same day. Reached C1 second time on 24 Oct and reached C2 on 25 Oct, came down to BC again. Started third time for C1 on 28 Oct, spent one night and left for C2 on 29 Oct. Started climbing on 30 Oct at 4:30 am from C2 for summit. Jacques, Heah, Ang Dorje and leader Hiddleston had started for summit, but Jacques got sick approximately at an altitude of 6250m and Hiddleston had to take her down. Heah and Ang Dorje reached the top at 10 am, stayed 20 minutes on the top. It was calm and clear on the top. No other people summited from other group during the time they climbed. Came down to C3 at 12 noon and C2 at 1:30 pm. The same day they came down to BC at 6 pm. Planning of future: Everest climbing in spring 2000. Intend to climb Taboche in 2001 as a non-commercial expedition. Complaints: A lot of rubbish has been left by the French group of this season in C3.
