Route Notes BC at "too many people" there. 16 Oct tried to reach top from C1 by Yves Astier-Perret, Alexis Monnerot-Dumaine, Etienne Pigne, Olivier Schultzendorff, Eric Thiercelin and got to 6400m, then two members very tired and had to go back; most stayed at C1 that night but Astier to BC while others stayed 2 days at C1 to acclimatize and they too then to BC. 20 Oct BC to C2; only 3 of the five actually reached C2 (Yves Astier-Perret, Etienne Pigne and Olivier Schultzendorff). 21st Olivier Schultzendorff sick with sore throat and fever so stayed in C2 while Yves Astier-Perret and Etienne Pigne went to top, where spent an hour taking pictures and back to C2 to sleep. 22nd to BC, bringing Romaneschi of another team who could not descend alone (needed to be roped to someone else - a member of Etienne's commercial team but unable to descend alone); at C2 slept in another team's tent on 20th because no room to pitch own tent but on 21st there was room and slept in our tent. Weather very good and never cold; "surprised no accidents" by people unroped.
