| Route Notes | 15 May went to 5800m, i.e., C1 and slept there (only Penny and O'Leary). 16 May reconnaissance along the SW Ridge up to 6000m by Penny and O'Leary. Returned to BC 17 May rested. 18 May O'Leary, Hasler, Penny, Staples slept at C1. 19 May Penny and O'Leary abandoned climb because tired. The other two rested. 20 May Hasler and Staples established C2 at 6100m and slept there. 21 May summit attempt. Staples went up to 6600m and Hasler up to 6750m and returned to C2. Had planned to leave 3 am, but was too windy and was 7 am when they started. 22 May returned to BC and abandoned climb. Penny and O'Leary arrived at BC on 19 May and left it on 20 May. 24 May Hasler and Staples left BC. Penny and O'Leary trekked four days and the two parties met at Namche Bazar on 24 May.
