| Route Notes | BC above Mingbo C1 on SW Ridge C2 below normal site on col of SW Ridge. Very steep rocks above C1 so C2 put lower than normal because too difficult to go higher, especially with heavy rucksacks. 17th the summiters struggled through waist deep snow in 2-1/2 - 3 hours to gain 200m altitude; reached top at 2:15 pm (left C2 at 6:00 am) as only summiters that day day; returned to C2 at 6:00 pm. On 20th was very cold and windy and took Hupfauers in one hour less time since snow not deep. 20th summiters slept that night in French-Equador team's C3 at about 6200m because strong winds; had to open route again and Sigi Hupfauer had back problem. 21st summiters took only five hours from C2 to top; back to BC at 8:00 pm. Seven expeditions on mountain at same time; worked very well together and like big family. |
