Route Notes C2 at normal site (only place for a camp on red tower) High point at end of mushroom ridge. 9th May wanted to pitch C3 at 6300m but had to turn back at 6200m because threatening clouds building up so back to C2 and on 10th to BC. Tent at C1 badly ripped by birds (Goraks) which got inside and plundered food inside. 8th May Americans reached 5850m just before red tower; had last camp at 5700m, saw bad weather coming, very safety conscious. Slept 8th May in C1 and at BC on 9th and back to aid post to Pheriche.
