Route Notes 2nd summit attack partly did not go above C3; reached C3 on 8th. 9th morning then weather changed, snow began to fall & before it started, Russell Brice radioed they should come down because [major] storm coming; directly to C1 at 9 pm in deep snow on ridge with difficulty in 12 hrs descent (in good weather & day light, 7 hrs needed for group descent from C3 to C1). 10th Nov C1 while 2 guides to Italian C1 normally 10 mins away, 1st summit party slept night of 8th Nov in C1. But this day 2 hours to Italian camp to find food in shoulder-deep snow & through could not return to own camp & made diversion; 10th night in C1; 11th Nov slept in Kammerlander's high BC, too difficult to reach BC in 2-meter deep snow; 12th Nov met rescuers from BC 1 hour below Kammerlander BC; rescuers were Brice, his team member, Sebastien, Knoertzer & Cormier's 2 French summiters, who had dug out trail for them; one night more above BC & some frostbitten feet.
