| Route Notes | BC east of Mingbo ABC on glacier High point on South Pillar of NW Ridge. Stayed at ABC (all 4 members) from 1st May. On 5th May up from ABC Steenmeijer and Valkenberg opened 5 pitches rock climbing (to Grade 6) while other fixing ropes. On 7th Redeker and Steenmeijer opened another 5 pitches (Grade 6) and Valkenberg fixing ropes (Idema ill and down to BC). Next 6-7 days tried to progress but very steep slabs with ice cover and on top of that snow (when fresh snow melted, snowed again) and fixed ropes got crushed with ice. So now abandoned this route quickly to make attempt on SW Ridge in remaining time to 31 May and end of season, but permission not granted for another route. Route much same as Bulgarian Autumn 1987. |
