Route Notes Two separate groups: Rolland's trio and Petrand's nine were on same permit but were independent parties. These French cooperated with Jean Noel Roche's team: Roche fixed route from C2 to C3 (Peter Athans had fixed to C1). Rolland arrived at BC on 12th & put tent at C2 above 13th and helped Petraud & Roche fix rope. Several other members would have tried for summit but when member of Roche's team had fatal fall, they lost interest. [Roche 5 Nov: Rolland-Lambard trio "bizarre." Supposed to be with Petraud's team, but said were autonomous; fixed very little rope, had no tents.]
