Route Notes 1st summit attempt was on 25th by Roche and 2 Americans [Gill and Southwell] (with Lambard of other team); hour later on top and Sangnier 1-2 hrs after Lambard in strong cold wind. Ropes had been fixed on mountain by Roche, Petraud, Athans and a little by J-J Rolland. Roche descended to C1 and 2 Americans in C2 on 25th. On 26th 2 Belgians going up for C1 and C2 for summit bid on 28th, Karine Van Dooren fell from 6000m on ridge. Perhaps could have reached her by descending rope, but dangerous rock fall made it too dangerous to move body. 28th next summit bid by 2 Italians with Roche again going up and success (no one from other teams to top that day). 2 May 1995: John Cleary of USA Ama Dablam team said 2 members of his party found decomposed body about 200m down South Face from ridge between C1 and C2 covered with stones but boots sticking out.
