Route Notes BC at Mingbo C1 on SW Ridge C2 on SW Ridge C3 on SW Ridge. 8 members left BC on 4 Nov: Carson had broken leg so helicopter evacuation needed. Brock Hanna went with him to help him get around and take care of himself. Albert Hanna "psyched out" and Matous had had his climb and he had to tend to expedition matters in KTM. These 4 to KTM by helicopter on 6th Nov. Other 4 had also had their climb, went trekking in Khumbu and came to Kathmandu on 12th Nov with last 6 members except Athans, who stayed in Khumbu few days (probably next trip to trekking peaks in later part of Nov) and flew to Kathmandu 15th Nov. Unsuccessful summit bid on 31st by Schneider with Matous guiding him; turned back at 6600m when Schneider became too tired to go on. Andrew Carson, Athans and other members of the expedition were approaching the start of the fixed ropes at 18,500 ft on 1st Nov 1992 at 11:30 am. A rock was pulled off by one member of the group. This rock hit Andrew Carsons in right leg above the knee. His femur was broken and severe cuts sustained to the leg. Carson has been rescued by helicopter to Kathmandu.
