| Route Notes | BC at east side of Mingbo near helipad ABC at start of long trudge up to the ridge C1 at start of main difficulties on the ridge High point on the ridge half-way to Col. 28 March Hill caught in rockfall which cracked ribs and put him out action; stayed a night at ABC and next day struggled to BC. Hewitt developed altitude sickness late March; tried 4 times to get to C1 and each time got altitude sickness so descended to BC and did no more climbing. Fully established at C1 about 10 April but rock pretty loose so hard going. Then heavy snowfall and conditions bad. Bradshaw and Walker started up on 10 April towards C2 but met Canadians coming down, learned of fatal fall and of unstable conditions above. Also food supplies at C1 were running low. Few days later, snowed every day and would actually not have gotten much further. |
